Dear Health 2.0 NYC Members,

I apologize for such a delayed recap of the February meetup. But before I go onto the actual recap, I want t thank everyone for contributing ideas for the next meetups and voting on the topics of interest. As Lynn and I always say - it is your group so the influence and feedback we get drives the unprecedented (IMHO) discussionsand the success of our meetup.

Here are the top 3 ideas so please visit the meetup site to add and / or vote

Personal Health and Wellness Management

Social Media in healthcare

Leading Edge technology in healthcare?

Quick Recap

We tried Ustream.tv to extend our meetup virtually - each one will be embedded below individually but you can go to our Heath 2.0 NYC Show page to view them all at once.

ZocDoc @ Health 2.0 NYC Chapter

Karsten from ZocDoc seems to carry the same passion and enthusiasm as the founder (Cyrus) himself. ZocDoc is going strong with a very recent expansion to the West Coast and are actively hiring (for those who are looking please contact him on Twitter @KarstenV )

Almost 8 months ago, Health 2.0 Meetup hosted an ideation session on "Office Visit Dimensions" to identify the gaps that are seen by consumers as it pertains to their expereinces before, at and after the doctor's visit.

ZocDoc solves some of these problems and while they have the capacity to expand the feature set, the are treading wisely to focus on what they do best.

Meaningful Use, to Use or not to Use

People say that LinkedIn & Facebook are for people you know, Twitter is for people you want to know....  I started following @paulroemer on twitter and was immediately impressed by his wisdom in the #EHR, #EMR space, so when I asked him to speak on meaningful use and what this means to the healthcare ecosystem he immediately said yes. Paul came all the way from Pennsylvania, where he is a managing director for Healthcare IT Strategy. I am also happy to say that we inspired him and he now has a local Health 2.0 PA Chapter on meetup

Paul is a knowledgeable, dynamic, entertaining presenter that is not afraid to challenge the status qoe and hence we spent almost an hour between his presentation and the Q&A session. I almost felt bad doing a time check.

His slides and the presentations are below and please feel free to contact him if you need him at @paulroemer

Thank you all again for your participation and see you in a few weeks. Agenda TBD but we will try to get presenters to match the ideas that you all submitted.

Thanks again

We are geared for yet another great meetup so RSVP quickly :)
Our agenda will be a bit different this time around with only one company actually presenting their service - ZocDoc.

ZocDoc

ZocDoc has been around since 2007 and started making a difference for consumers right form the start. They kicked off the service starting with NYC. Karsten Vagner, Director of Communications, will present the platform, but also talk about their recent expansion to the West Coast.

Last meetup we briefly touched on the 576 page document from ONC and meaningful use, so the rest of the time we will spend on this topic. I could not think of anyone better to lead this discussion but Paul Roemer, managing partner of of the consulting firm Healthcare IT Strategy, based just outside of Philadelphia. His company's focus is helping large health care providers solve business problems by aligning their healthcare IT strategy around reform, EHR and Meaningful use. They assess EHRs, workflow improvement, and change management. Paul's focus is heath care transformation and problem resolution using a range of tools including; IT, strategy and solutions management. The AMA wrote about Paul that he is a person to watch, someone who is shaping the discussion about how to transform the business model of healthcare. Paul has a record of leveraging leadership expertise in P&L management, international business development, process reengineering, customer relationships and strategy design/execution to drive dynamic gains in revenue, profit, and performance in startup and mature environments. He has built three profitable consulting organizations, two for the Big 8, and have had his own firm for 14 years. He is a graduate of the Owen School at Vanderbilt University.

As you can imagine, we are very excited for Paul to lead a session around the topic that is near and dear to us all.

Agenda for February Meetup:
6:30 - 7:00pm Networking (Some healthy snacks and drinks)
7:00 - 7:20pm ZocDoc - Karten Vagner, Director of Communications
7:20 - 8:00pm Paul Roemer, Managing Partner, Healthcare IT Strategy

I am sure that we will run longer then 8 :)

See you in a few weeks

Thanks
